A REVIEW ON TRICHOSANTHES CUCUMARINA VAR. ANGUINA

ABSTRACT
Many of the plant have more nutrition as well as medicinal value, now a days using allopathic medicine for treatment of a disease, affect other physiological function of body and produce other illness to the body and also give more then one adverse effect. Hence it’s only used for spontaneous action and not as a prophylactic measure. This point of view is increasing now a days the popularity of traditional system of medicine for prevention and cure of any ailment with minimal or nil adverse effect, medicine from nature possess not only curative, have been used for protective from the infectious disease and boost the immunity. The Trichosanthes cucumarina most popular plant found in tropical and subtropical area mainly in the wild across much of south and southeast Asia including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sounthern China. It belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae. trichosanthis fruits mainly used in cooking purpose. Fruits have many phytoconstituent mainly their proteins, vitamin, essential amino acids. Leaves contain flavonoids, glycosides, Leaf extract contain lignin. As the plant T. cucumerina possesses medicinally important secondary metabolites, these can be employed in the treatment of various diseases. It’s said to be antidiabetic, anthelmintic, anti-cardiac failure, hypoglycemic, anti-fertility, anti-inflammatory and against to HIV. This review focuses the recent works on the plant Trichosanthes cucumarina.
