Bansi C. Solanki*, Mehul G. Rana and Dr. Parula B. Patel

ABSTRACT

Standardization of Ayurvedic formulations Marichyadi Bati and Mridwikadi Leham was performed using multiple markers and modern scientific quality control procedures. Marketed Formulation was standardized according to WHO guideline. In house Lab prepared formulations (three batches) of Marichaydi Bati and Mridwikadi Leham were prepared as per Ayurvedic Formulary of India. Standardization of ayurvedic formulations was done using different parameters like Macro and microscopic identification, Physico-Chemical and Heavy metal analysis. In RP-HPLC method has been established for quantification of Gallic acid and Piperine chromatographic separation was carried out on Waters spherisorb®, 5μm, ODS (250 mm L × 4.6 mm Ø) in size using mobile phase methanol: water (70:30 % v/v), flow rate 1.2 ml/min and detected at 285 nm using PDA detector from Lab and Marketed formulation of Marichyadi Bati and Mridwikadi Leham. Detector linearity was established in concentration range 10-30 μg/ml for gallic acid and piperine. The regression coefficient was 0.998 for gallic acid and piperine. Validation of developed method was performed according to ICH-Q2R1 guideline, result were found to be satisfactory.

Keywords: Gallic acid, Piperine, Marichyadi Bati, Mridwikadi Leham, RP-HPLC.
