ABSTRACT
The trial was conducted with the objective to study of efficacy of herbal products to mitigate the negative effects on performance of the pigs fed diets contaminated with fungal toxins. A total of 12 weaned Large White Yorkshire piglets weighing around 6-8 kg at 4 weeks of age were procured and divided into 2 groups, T0 and T1. Each group was allotted to standard basal diet containing fixed level of mycotoxin within the maximum permissible levels (Aflatoxin 20 ppb + Ochratoxin.2 ppb). Group T1 supplemented with the Herbal supplement, Vilocym Z (M/S Ayurvet limited baddi, India) for the duration of 4 month whereas group T0 was kept as control. Parameters viz; growth rate, biochemical parameters, metabolic markers were
recorded fortnightly intervals throughout the study period at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 and 120th days of experiment. Result reveals that during the 8th fortnight (120th day) various parameters such as average bodyweight, average daily body weight gain, FCR, Carcass characteristics, hematological parameters were significantly better in multiple mycotoxin binder ‘Vilocym Z’ supplemented group (T1) as compared to control group (T0).
