ABSTRACT
The main aim of the present investigation is to formulate famotidine loaded Floating microspheres by ionotropic gelation method. Total six formulations were prepared by altering the concentration of drug to polymer concentrations by altering drug to polymer concentration. The obtained formulations were evaluated for particle size, entrapment efficiency, Buoyancy time and In vitro dissolution studies. In vitro dissolution studies were conducted for a period of 3 hours. The drug release was continued up to 3 hrs with 99.81% drug release. From the study it was concluded that Formulation which has been prepared by using polymers ethyl cellulose, HPMC, and Guar gum in the ratio of
2:1:1 was yielding the best floating microspheres which were floating for a period of 24hrs.
Keywords: Floating Microspheres, famotidine, ionotropic gelation method.
