NOVEL EXTRACTION, CHARACTERIZATION AND PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATION OF OKRA MUCILAGE (ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS) AS A PHARMACEUTICAL EXCIPIENT

ABSTRACT
Naturally occurring excipients are currently getting prime importance among which the polysaccharides occupy a special position because of their easy availability, non-toxic, eco-friendly and biodegradable nature. The objective of the review was to explore the excipient profile of Abelmoschus esculentus (Okra) which is obtained from the fruits of Hibiscus esculentus belonging to the family Malvaceae The Chemical constituents include D-galactose, L-rhamnose and L-galacturonic acid with some proportions of glucose, mannose, arabinose and xylose. value, medicinal uses and pharmaceutical applications the mucilage of Abelmoschus esculentus (Okra) as a excipients.
