A COMPARATIVE CLINICAL STUDY OF MANJISHTADI GHRITAPICHU AND SHATADHAUTA GHRITAPICHU IN PARIKARTIKA VIS-A-VIS ACUTE FISSURE-IN-ANO

ABSTRACT
As we know that changes in life style like more work load and prolonged sitting, continuous travelling, improper food habits, have made much of the population suffers from ano rectal pathologies and among them fissure-in-ano is most common. It is not a life threatening but most painful condition which hampers the daily activities of the person. Objectives: “A comparative clinical study of manjishtadi ghrita pichu and shatadhauta ghrita pichu in parikartika vis-a-vis acute fissure-in-ano”. Study Selection: 30 patients diagnosed with parikartika of either sex were selected. Intervention: Group – A (n=15) Manjishtadi ghrita pichu, Group B (n=15) Shatdauta ghrita pichu was taken in a sterile gauze piece size of 3 cm×3 cm size to be kept at anus, followed by 15 minutes sitz bath with bearable hot water,
twice in a day, for 14 days. Pichu was removed after 3 hours. Outcome Measures: The data was graded based on the assessment criteria and was analysed statistically. Results: The outcome of treatment after 21 days was statistically significant in the subjective symptoms like pain, burning, bleeding, itching in anal region and constipation and the objective signs like size of fissure. Conclusion: The study confirms that both manjishtadi ghrita pichu and shatdauta ghrita pichu are effective in the treatment of parikartika but manjishtadi ghrita was more effective in comparison statistically.
