ABSTRACT
Aceclofenac is a newer derivative of diclofenac and have a very short half life thus requires frequent dosing. Controlled release matrix tablets of Aceclofenac were prepared by using natural polymers which are hydrophilic in nature. In F1, F2 and F3 formulations single polymer was used and in F4 formulation all three polymers were used in equal concentration. NaCMC was used in all the formulation as a release rate retardant. The granules were evaluated for bulk density, tapered density, bulkiness, angle of repose, Hausner's ratio and compressibility index. In vitro release studies revealed that aceclofenac formulation using natural polymers guar gum, Xanthan gum and gum acacia were able to control the drug release for 8 hours and shows lowest percent drug release of 64.7% (F4) and heighest % drug release was 76.2% (F1).
Keywords: density, tapered density, bulkiness, angle of repose, Hausner's ratio.
