ABSTRACT
Corrosion of materials has continued to receive interest in the technological world. Corrosion is an unavoidable but a controllable process. The use of plant extracts as green corrosion inhibitors is one of the best options of protecting metals and alloys. Large numbers of organic compounds were studied to investigate their corrosion inhibition potential. All these studies indicate that organic compounds those contain N, S and O in their structures showed significant inhibition efficiency. But due to the toxicity of organic corrosion inhibitors to the environment has prompted the search for green corrosion inhibitors as they are biodegradable and do not contain heavy metals or other toxic compounds. This review briefly discusses some of the interesting features of the green inhibitors reported during the last decade.
