ARAGVADHA (CASSIA FISTULA LINN.): A REVIEW FROM BRUHATRAYI AND NIGHANTU

ABSTRACT

Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) which is commonly known as Golden Shower tree is deciduous tree having yellow coloured blooms and two feet long, dark brown, cylindrical seedpods. Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) belongs to Fabaceae family. Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) is common drug of choice of practionors. It is used for kushtha, jwara, hrudrog and many more other diseased conditions. Therefore, review of Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) was taken from Bruhatrayi viz. Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtang Sangraha, Ashtang Hridaya and from available Nighantu.
