A REVIEW ON PRONIOSOMES: AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO VESICULAR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

Proniosomes are a novel drug delivery system, in which the medication is encapsulated in a vesicle and provide various pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. The vesicular drug delivery reduces the cost of therapy by enhanced bioavailability of medications, mainly in case of poorly soluble drugs. As compared to other novel formulations proniosomes are easy to make and less costly. Proniosomes increase the stability profile of the drugs and also provide additional convenience in transportation, distribution, storage and dosing so it is evident that proniosomes are very promising drug carrier system. Based on the investigations proniosomal system appears to be an efficient drug carrier for the future with physical and chemical stability and potentially scalable for commercial viability.
