ABSTRACT

Background: The safe surgery protocol is recommended to improve patient safety and is poorly applied in Brazilian public health care system (SUS) hospitals. The objective of the study is to analyze the knowledge of physicians about the implantation of the protocol of safe surgery. Methods: A prospective, quantitative, cross-sectional exploratory descriptive study was conducted with 100 physicians from the hospital between March and April 2016, through a structured questionnaire on the knowledge of the safe surgery protocol.
