ABSTRACT
Introduction: Nanotechnology is a relatively new branch of science that has found a wide range of applications that range from energy production to industrial production processes to biomedical applications. One of the key applications is in biology and biomedical research. Nanoparticles (NPs) can be engineered to possess unique composition and functionalities, which can provide novel tools and techniques that have not previously existed in biomedical research. For example, NPs can be used to image biological processes on the cellular level. They can also be utilized to detect analytes at the attomolar range. In this review, we aim to discuss the types of NPs and their potential application in biology and biomedical research.
Keywords: Nanoparticals, energy production, biological processes
