ABSTRACT
A series of bis Schiff bases are synthesized by conventional method and a green microwave assisted synthesis.A comparative study of the same is done. These Schiff bases were synthesized using a series of aromatic and heterocyclic aldehydes and 4,4’ diamino bibenzyl. The Schiff bases synthesized by green method gave excellent yields in fw seconds. The structures of these synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR and 1H NMR spectral analysis. All the synthesized compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity using S.Aureus and E.coli.These compounds showed moderate to good antimicrobial activity.
Keywords: 1, 2-dianilino ethane, Schiff bases, Bibenzyl, antimicrobial activity.
