TRIPHALA “HERBAL COCKTAIL” –A BOON TO DENTISTRY

ABSTRACT
Triphala is a simple ayurvedic preparation whose use has been documented since the ancient times. It consist of a mixture of three fruits Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica) and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) predominantly seen in Indian subcontinent. The combined effect of the three components accounts for its various medicinal uses like antioxidant, laxative, rejuvenation and many more. In dentistry, Triphala is known to have a wide spectrum of therapeutic actions as an antimicrobial, antioxidant. This article throws light on all the possible ways in which Triphala can be utilized in dentistry.
