QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY ON DISABILITY & PARALYSIS PATIENTS IN THE CENTER FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE PARALYZED (CRP), SAVAR, DHAKA.

ABSTRACT
Disabilities are one of the major challenge for public health, social and rehabilitation centers in developing countries. The main goal of the survey which was done in Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP), Savar, Dhaka on paralysis is to develop a series of questionnaires that would provide a useful set of measures the social, administrative, and medical considerations involved in paralysis condition, treatment and their rehabilitation. Sampling was done based on the population of CRP. Primary data was collected based on the answer of the patient beside secondary source of information was internet, websites of CRP and various journals article related todisability. A total of 83 assessment forms, which were completed within March, 2016 to May 2016, constituted the sample of this study. Among 83 patient 54% female and 45% male and they were in are between 9-75 years and approximately 42.6% patients were demographically from Dhaka division and the rest came from other five divisions though CRP is located in Dhaka city. Individual patients got the disability & paralysis due to different causes among them most important cause of paralysis was stroke which was found in 30.1% patient, after that accident was 16.8%, spinal cord injury was 19.2%, cerebral palsy was 10.8%, infection was 8.43% and other caused 14.45% paralysis in patient. Individual patients have the paralysis in different parts of the body including spinal cord (30.12%), leg (19.27%), hand (4.81%), neck (3.75%), brain injury (6.25%), half body paralysis (15.66%), face paralysis (8.75%), other (12.04%).My survey found that the patients of CRP takes various types of therapy other than medicine. physiotherapy were 32.89%, occupational therapy were 14.45%, speech & language therapy were 9.63%, counseling service were 4.81%, Others were 7.22%.Main physical problem of these patients are movement & pain.
