COMPARISION OF ANTIEPILEPTIC ACTIVITY OF DIFFERENT BRANDS OF PHENYTOIN

ABSTRACT
Epilepsy is a worldwide neurological condition. It is estimated that around 50 million people are suffering with epilepsy in world. The causes of epilepsy are still unclear. In present study three different brands were selected from Abotte, Intas and Zydus Cadila respectively. This brands was evaluated pharmacologically by using maximal electroshock induced convulsions in wister albino rats. The overall objective of present study was to find out the best brand of phenytoin for the treatment of epilepsy. All the brands exerted significant decrease in duration of extensor phase in comparison of control.
