ABSTRACT
Five medicinal plants Achyranthes Aspera, Eclipta alba, Hemidesmus indicus, Hibiscus rosa sinensis, Zingiber offcinale, have been investigated for their fibrinolytic activity. The fibrinolytic system is to dissolve fibrin clots in circulation. This system is composed of inactive precursor plasminogen which can be converted to plasmin by the proteolytic enzymes like tissue type plasminogen activator (tPA). Fibrinolytic properties can be found in a variety of medicinal plants and they could effectively prevent cardiovascular diseases. Medicinal plants were prepared by ethanol extract and aqueous extract have been investigated for their fibrinolytic activity. The present study indicates
the aqueous and ethanol extract of Hibiscus rosa sinensis showed that excellent fibrinolytic activity.
