ABSTRACT
Aspirin an age old wonder molecule with potential pharmacological properties also has made its remarkable footprints in the field of oncology. Latest reports including provocative study by researchers at University of Oxford, 51 randomised clinical trials double blinded with an extensive follow up have strongly demonstrated the low dose aspirin’s efficacy to reduce morbidity and mortality related to different types of cancer’s namely skin cancer including the deadest type the salient malignant melanoma, adenocarcinoma and gastro intestinal tract cancers which includes esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colorectal cancers etc. The probable mechanism inferred is that aspirin
interferes with the platelet function in the formation of cancerous tumours and metastasis. Keeping in mind the benefit risk analysis low dose aspirin (75-150 mg) can become a promising remarkable little wonder in pharmacotherapy of cancer.
Keywords: esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colorectal cancers etc.
