ABSTRACT
The demand for Orodispersible tablet (ODT) has been growing during the last decade especially for elderly and children who have swallowing difficulties. Sumatriptan Succinate is serotonin and is a 5-HT agonist used in treatment of Anti-migraine agents. Oral bioavailability of Sumatriptan Succinate is around 15% (oral) and 96% (s.c) and having half life 2.5 hrs. In present work an attempt has been made to prepare Orodispersible tablets of Sumatriptan Succinate with increased rate of dissolution may leads to increase bioavailability. In present work Orodispersible tablet of Sumatriptan Succinate prepared using sublimation methods. The tablets prepared were evaluated for various parameters. The tablets prepared by Sumatriptan Succinate were also prepared by sublimation method using camphor as subliming agent and Croscarmellose sodium (Ac-Di-Sol), sodium starch glycolate (Explotab) and Crospovidone (Polyplasdone XL) act as Superdisintegrants. Containing of croscarmellose sodium showed highest in vitro drug release of 97% within 30 min. DSC, NMR, 13CNMR & IR spectral analysis the pure drug characteristic absorption bands and formulations absorption bands have shown all most same range. Sumatriptan Succinate is used in treatment of anti-migraine.
