Priyanka M. Khedkar*, Swati R. Dhande and Dr. Vilasrao Kadam
ABSTRACT
Molecular cloning refers to the process by which recombinant DNA molecules are produced and transformed into a host organism, where they are replicated. The cloning of human genome has resulted in the identification of many potential new drug targets. DNA as a starting material was the new point that led to the molecular cloning of target for endogenous ligands as well as therapeutic drug discovery. The molecular cloning is use to determine the expression pattern of gene and also to monitor change into the expression in response to drug treatment. Application of this technique has become an increasingly important tool in the field of biotechnology, microbiology and in drug discovery and development. This review entails the molecular cloning of drug targets, its recent advances and application.
Keywords: Molecular cloning, cloning of cDNA, recombinant DNA.
