THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MENTAL HEALTH AND SELF-ESTEEM AND INTERNAL-EXTERNAL LOCUS OF CONTROL IN STUDENTS OF SHIRAZ ISLAMIC AZAD UNIVERSITY IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-2016

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental health and self-esteem and locus of control in students of Islamic Azad University of Shiraz in 2016. The study population included all students of Islamic Azad University of Shiraz who were studying in 2016 and their number is 87 712 people. According to Morgan’s table, 377 subjects have been selected in the simple stratified-random sampling method. It was used three Goldberg mental health (1994), Pep et al. self-esteem (1999) and Duke and Naviki control locus (2002) questionnaires to collect the data. The descriptive research method was correlational. The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between mental health and self-esteem and between mental health and control locus and there is a significant relationship between mental health and self-esteem dimensions and between mental health and control locus dimensions. Also, among the self-esteem dimensions, social dimension was a significant predictor of mental health and among the dimensions of control locus, inner dimension was a significant predictor of mental health.
