SPINAL ANESTHESIA FOR CESAREAN SECTION IN AN SILVER-RUSSELL SYNDROME. CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Silver-Russell syndrome (SRS) is a growth disorder characterized by slow growth before and after birth. Adults with SRS are short. We report the successful use of single-shot spinal anesthesia for an elective cesarean section in a gravid woman with SRS. A sensitive block extending to T4 using a 8 mg 0.5% hyperbaric bupivaine and morphine 100μg. Apart from one episode of hypotension her perioperative course was uneventful. The fetus was born with good vitality Apgar 8 in the 1st minute and 10 in the 5th minute. The SRS is reviewed and the anesthetic implications of the condition are discussed.
