SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF NEW SCHIFF’S AND MANNICH BASES

ABSTRACT

Schiff’s and Mannich bases of isatins are reported to exhibit broad spectrum chemotherapeutic properties. In continuation of our work on Isatin, we have synthesized new Schiff’s bases of isatin with hydrazine hydrate. The N-Mannich bases of above Schiff’s bases were synthesized by condensing the acidic imino group of isatin with formaldehyde and various amines and screened for antimicrobial and in-vitro antihelminthic. All compounds exhibited mild to moderate activity.
