ABSTRACT
Two simple spectrophotometric methods were developed for the determination of binary mixtures without prior separation. In UV-Spectrophotometric method, estimation of Cefoperazone sodium and Sulbactum sodium was carried out at 238 nm and 257.80 nm respectively for simultaneous equation spectrophotometric method and estimation of Cefoperazone sodium and Sulbactum sodium was carried out at 240.40 nm (isoabsorptive point) and 257.80 nm (λmax of Sulbactum sodium) for absorbance ratio method. Calibration curves were linear in the range of 2 – 12 μg/mL for both the drugs for simultaneous equation spectrophotometric method and for absorbance ratio method. Correlation coefficient found to be 0.9995. Accuracy for
both the drugs were in the range of 98-101%. The proposed spectrophotometric method was validated and successfully applied for the assay of both drug combinations in several laboratory-prepared mixtures and commercial tablets.
