Objectives: Momordica charantia belonging to family Cucurbitaceae is a weed widely distributed throughout the plains of India. It has been reported to be useful in treating Hepatotoprotective, Anti-cancer, Antiviral and Anti-fertility effects have been shown in several studies. The present study was designed to investigate the Anti diabetic nephropathy activity of aqueous extract of Momordica charantia Method: diabetic nephropathy induced by streptozotocin dissolved in citrate buffer (PH-4.5) at a dose of 45mg/kg i.p. in Wistar albino rats. Extract were administered in dose level (250 mg/kg). Results: The extract of Momordica charantia, significantly reduced, the elevated levels of Blood glucose, Glycated haemoglobin, Vascular endothelial growth factor, Plasma creatinine and Total protein condition has shown considerable decline as well as increased Glutathione level. Aqueous extract (250 mg/kg) of Momordica charantia was more significant in these studies. Conclusion: The present study concludes that the aqueous extract of Momordica charantia possesses significant Anti diabetic nephropathy activity in streptozotocin induced rats at a dose of 45mg/kg i.p. in Wistar albino rats. Thus, it has been scientifically proved that the traditional knowledge obtained from this plant.

Keywords: Momordica charantia, Streptozotocin, Glycemic parameters, Angiogenic parameter, histopathological studies.
