ABSTRACT
We always imagine the words ‘bacteria’, ‘viruses’ as pathogenic in origin and bad for our health. Soon we came to know that there are some good bacteria which protect us from other bacteria and resides in our gut as well as can also be used as probiotics. But there are some good viruses too, which are very helpful against these bacterial infections as well as are important for research development in the field of genetics. These viruses are bacteriophage. After many years it is again emerging as an antibiotic resistant treatment. It is also a vector used in gene transfer. Along with this, many other vectors are developed like Cosmid, phagemid, eukaryotic vectors which can be a boon in the antibiotic resistant treatment as well for gene therapy. In
this overview, we have tried to summarize ‘phagemid’ so that one can have a brief idea about its importance. This review will serve the purpose of providing basic introduction about the phagemid and related terms in a single article for better understanding.
Keywords: Phegamid, Bacteriophage therapy, Plasmid.
