Abstract

SYNTHESIS, ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTI MYCOBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF SOME CHALCONE DERIVATIVES OF INDANE-1,3- DIONE.

ABSTRACT

In the continuous study of our research program,initially we synthesized some chalcone derivatives of indane-1,3-dione using conventional method by reacting 2- acetyl indane-1,3- dione(1) with different aromatic aldehydes.For this, compd(1) was obtained by reacting phthalic anhydride with acetic anhydride and acetyl acetone in the presence of triethyl amine. The synthesized compounds(2a-f) have been characterized by TLC, IR and.1H-NMR spectroscopy and evaluated for their antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activities.
