ABSTRACT
The study has been designed to evaluate the analgesic activity of Picrorhiza Kurroa Royale Ex Benth Rhizomes by hot plate reaction time in mice (swiss albino). The methanolic and hydromethanolic (50:50) extracts of plant are administered intraperitoneally to mice to evaluate analgesic activity. The activity of extract were compared with codeine, used as a standard drug. The observations made are as follows: both methanolic and hydroalcoholic extracts at a dose of 520 mg/ kg body weight show maximum and statistically significant analgesic effects. So it is concluded that plant extracts justified its use as an analgesic und.
Keywords: analgesic activity, intraperitoneally, methanolic, hydroalcoholic extract, body weight.
