PHYTOCHEMICAL ASPECT OF INSECTICIDAL PLANT AZADIRACHTA INDICA(NEEM)

ABSTRACT
Medicinal plants are rich source of novel drugs that forms the ingredients in traditional systems. Azadirachta indica commonly known as “Neem” or “Margosa”, belong to the family Meliaceae. Neem is used in traditional medicine as a source of many therapeutic agents. The extract from bark, leaves, fruits and root have been used to control leprosy, intestinal helminthiasis and respiratory disorders. Azadirachta indica is a natural source of insecticides, pesticides and agrochemicals. The present paper is an attempt to provide a detailed botanical description, classification, phytochemical study of the plant.
