ABSTRACT
Synthesis of new series of Schiff base ligand and their complexes have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic moment, IR, Electronic spectra, TGA/DTA, X-Ray powder diffraction, ESR and Mass spectra. These complexes have general formula is ML2.2H2O{ whereas M= metal ions Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) L=2-[(Z)-(2-aminobenzylidene)amino]- 5-methoxyphenol]. IR spectra of the complexes, indicates the bonding between imino (>C=N-) and Hydroxy (-OH) group of ligand. Mass spectra have matches with their theoretical values. EPR spectral data provide information about their structures on the basis of Hamiltonian parameters and the degree of covalence. These metal complexes and Schiff base have also screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities to assess their inhibiting potential.
Keywords: Infrared, Mass Spectra, ESR, Thermal Analysis, X-Ray Powder diffraction and 2-[(Z)-(2-aminobenzylidene) amino]- 5-methoxyphenol.
