ABSTRACT
Two ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometric methods were developed for the estimation of enalapril in bulk and tablet formulations. Both the developed methods were easy, simple, sensitive, accurate, precise and rapid. For the estimation of enalapril, two solvent systems employed viz., 0.1N HCl and 0.01N HCl and wavelength of detection (λ max) was found to be 207nm. The developed methods were used to estimate enalapril in bulk and formulations. To estimate the drug content in formulations Envas as marketed tablets were selected. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 2-20 mcg/ml. Calibration curve showed linearity between concentration and absorbance with the r square value of 0.9993. The proposed methods were in good agreement
with their respective label claims, thus suggesting the validity of the methods and noninterference of formulation excipients in the estimation. The developed methods were stability specific and were validated as per ICH guidelines.
