ABSTRACT
Gallstone is a major gastrointestinal disease. Female are at higher risk for gallstone. This is basically due to the sex steroid hormone estrogen and progesterone. These two hormones increase during pregnancies and effect biliary cholesterol level and gallbladder motility. Scope of our study is to analyze the effect of parity rate, abortion, contraceptive pills and age of marriage on gallstone disease in female. Inspite of comparatively lower BMI (Body mass index) than male, female are more prone to gallstone due to earlier age of marriage (r= +0.963; p=0.037). Because of early age of marriage female have longer fertility period and hence higher parity rate. During these period female sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone play exclusive role. But contraceptive pills and abortion were not seen to be associated with gallstone in female. The study may help to prevent gallstone disease.
