ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is a chronic granulomatous disease and is a major health problem in the developing countries in the world. About a third of the world population is affected with this disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Unless action is taken about 4 million people in India would perish from tuberculosis. Although emergence of ‘multidrug resistant’ (MDR) and ‘extremely drug resistant’ (XDR) TB has been reported in around 13% of the cases the whole future of current anti tubercular chemotherapy is quite concerning. The current paper focuses on treatment of tuberculosis with medicinal and aromatic plants found in the state of West Bengal.
