ABSTRACT
A screening conducted on plants that have potential as anticancer is a
promising way for discovering novel chemotherapeutic compound.
The anti-proliferative effects of ethanolic extract of Terminalia
chebula have been studied on MCF-7 type of cell lines by MTT assay.
In this study, extracts of T chebula has been used to test the cytotoxic
effects on breast cancer cells. The study with the ethanolic extracts of
the plant displayed cytotoxic effects on MCF-7 cells. Current study
investigates the anticancer activity of the ethanolic extract of T chebula
fruits in breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines ex vivo. Results of MTT
assay suggested that the ethanolic extract of Terminalia chebula can
induce cytotoxicity in cancer cells, irrespective of origin, in a
concentration- and time-dependent manner. Our analysis have yielded
positive and promising results that has paved way for further progress
in our research. It is evident that we could develop a better drug to combat cancer from
natural sources.
