EVALUATION OF ANTHELIMINTIC POTENTIAL OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF KYLLINGA MONOCEPHALA

ABSTRACT
The plant Kyllinga Monocephala is more or less glabrous Belongs to
family “Cyperaceae” is called as “Anuang & Nirbishi” in Hindi and
“Bandar Phool” in Chhattishgarhi. This plant is used for treatment of
pain, dirrhoea, measles, fistula, pustules, tumours, epilepsy, liver
complaints and eye releted problems. In present study methanolic
extract of plant is used for its anthelimintic property. The
Anthelimintic activity was evaluated on adult Indian Earth worms
(pheretima posthuma). Albendazole suspension was used as standard
and antheliminitc potenitial of plant extract was evaluavated at three
different concentratons. And found that methanolic extract of plant
Kyllinga monocephala contain significant and dose dependent
antheliminitc activity.
