PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF APAMARGA KSHARA AND THERE QUALITY PARAMETERS WSR TO SHARANGHAR SHAMHITA

ABSTRACT
Background: Kshara is an powder obtained from water soluble ash. Historical review, Because of its corrosive nature (Ksharanat) it is known as Kshara. Kshara is not having rasa, this is manifested by the combination of many rasa and is dominated by Katu and Lavana rasa. It is the object of many senses and it involves a special method of preparation. Kshara has the property of Ksharana, hence it gradually erodes Kaphaja Gulma and brings it downwards. It is to be used in externally or internally according to the ailments of the body. These Ksharas having qualities like hot, stimulating secretions, destroying organisms, helping digestion, increasing diuresis etc. Aim: To develop standard manufacturing procedure of Apamarga Kshara and to their quality control parameters. Materials and Methods: Total three batches of Apamarga Kshara were prepared by using refrance of Sharandhar Shamhita because it is the popular book of Ayurvedic Pharmacetics. All the involved procedures were followed as per classical guidelines. Results: Average 18.76 % yield was obtained from Apamarga panchag. Conclusion: This method is the most convenient and economic method of get maximum yield 18.76 %.
