Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE LOADED NANOEMULSION GEL CONTAINING TEA TREE OIL

ABSTRACT

The aim of present study was to prepare Clobetasol propionate (CP) nano gel formulation containing Salicylic acid present in gel forpsoriasis treatment. Topical gel formulation was designed by using CP nanoemulsion, Carbopol 934 and Salicylic acid present in distilled water. Methyl paraben and propyl paraben used as a preservative because gelling agent may support growth of microorganism. Tri-ethanolamine is used as for the pH adjustment of gel. Salicylic acid is used to remove hyper keratinized cell from the superficial layer of the skin. The prepared gels were evaluated for physical appearance, pH, spread ability, drug content, swelling index, diffusion study, viscosity, homogeneity and grittiness. It was inferred from results that gel formulations were good in appearance and homogeneity.
