ABSTRACT
Proteases are the most studied microbial enzymes at commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical analytical, diagnostic and other sectors. Effective proteolytic enzymes producing microbial strain has been isolated from gut of the fresh water fish Channa punctatus and evaluated its extracellular protease production properties with respect to different physiological parameters. The strain has been identified as Bacillus subtilis and the strain has showed the maximum zone of activity (22mm) after overnight incubation after the addition of the indicator. The extracellular protease production was enhanced by optimizing the culture condition.
Keywords: Protease enzyme, Optimization, Bacillus subtilis and Channa punctatus.
