IS THERE ANY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BEING AWARE OF PATIENT RIGHTS AND THEIR OBSERVANCE? A DESCRIPTIVE CORRELATIONAL STUDY IN ZAHEDAN 2016

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Respecting patient rights, preventing Paternalism by physicians and using patient's physical and spiritual potentials are necessary for making decisions in medicine. This study aimed to find out that is there any relationship between being aware of patient rights and their observance? Material and Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study conducted on 150 patients in Educational hospitals of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. Data were collected through a three section questionnaire. After data collection they were analyzed though descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and T test by SPSS v.19. Results: The mean of age was 38.08±14.95 and 70 respondents were male. Pearson's correlation test had shown a significant relationship between awarnes about patient rights and patient rights observance. Conclusion: The results of this study had shown a significant relationship between awarnes about patient rights and patient rights observance.
