Abstract
ESTIMATION OF ALPHA-FETOPROTEIN (AFP) AND SOME OF BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS IN LEUKEMIA PATIENTS
Israa Burhan*
ABSTRACT
Leukemia was defined as increase propagation of blood cells in the bone marrow that increased level of abnormal white blood cells with not completely developed called as blasts or leukemia cells, leukemia widespread in children and adults. Furthermore Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) used as diagnosed of cancer that increase splitting in neoplastic tissues. Furthermore some Proteins that diagnosed in fetus throw the pregnancy recognized as ‘fetal antigens’ used as a cancer markers. Alpha-fetoprotein is a protein secreted by the yolk sac and the liver throw fetal growing and used as detection of a tumor marker and diagnosed cancers with aid of patients follow up throw therapy and monitor for cancer recurrence. In this research was determined level of serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in screening for leukemia developments. Also the study include determined each of Urea, Creatinine, Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (GOT), Glutamate-Pyruvate Transaminase (GPT), Total Serum Bilirubin (TSB). The result appeared significantly increased of GOT, GPT in patients with leukemia as compared with control groups , Furthermore, there was increased significant of AFP and non significantly increased of Urea level in patients when compared with control groups, also significantly decreased in creatinine and non significant decreased in TSB in patients as compared with control groups.
