ABSTRACT
The study was undertaken with an aim to develop an optimized formulation of antiviral drug Ribavirin by oral drug delivery. The active pharmaceutical ingredient Ribavirin was selected and formulated as immediate release oral film coated tablets contained 200mg of Ribavirin comparable to the innovator product. In the present work, reformulation studies were conducted to know the drug excipients compatibilities. Based on the results, suitable excipients were selected for formulation development. Tablets were prepared by using wet granulation technique. Core tablets were coated with coating suspension to 10.3% of Opadry pink. Finished products were evaluated for disintegration, time, assay, and Invitro release studies. The developed trails were tested Invitro dissolution profile and compared with the reference product of COPEGUS 200mg tablets. The Invitro
dissolution profile of Formulation 14 (F14) was similar to that of reference product.
