ABSTRACT
Pergularia daemia is a perennial herb that grows along the roadsides of tropical and subtropical regions and is seen in India. The aim of the present study was to investigate the phytochemicals in the ethanolic, methanolic and acetone extract of the leaves and roots of Pergularia daemia. The extracts of leaves of Pergularia daemia was found to have tannin, alkaloids, glycosides, terpenoids, steroids, carbohydrates whereas the roots of Pergularia daemia contains flavonoids, tannin, alkaloids, glycosides, terpenoids, steroids, carbohydrates The presence of flavaniod in the roots of Pergularia daemia could serve as best anti inflammatory agent as flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds which contains anti-inflammatory activity in both proliferative and exudative phases of inflammation.
Keywords: Phytochemicals, Pergularia daemia, anti-inflammatory.
