ABSTRACT
There is a need of natural eco-friendly mosquito control agents instead of harmful synthetic chemical insecticides. The leaves and leaves essential oil of Clausena dentata (Willd.) Roem. are used as potential mosquito repellent activity and to degrade dangerous pesticide like endosulfan. In the present study an attempt has been made to study the secondary metabolites present, Thin Layer Chromatography fingerprinting and physicochemical values for the leaf of Clausena dentata (Willd.) Roem. The phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, proteins, phenols, saponins, steroids and tannins. The physico-chemical and extractive values may be used as standards for identification and for checking the purity of the crude drug. The Thin Layer Chromatography fingerprint analysis
revealed the presence of different types of chemical constituents.
Keywords: Clausena dentata, TLC, phytochemicals, secondary metabolites, mosquito repellent, standardization.
