ABSTRACT
The kinetics of oxidation of L-leucine by Tributyl Ammonium Chlorochromate (TriBACC) was studied spectrophotometrically at 445 nm. The reaction between L-leucine and (TriBACC) in acid medium exhibits 1:1 stoichiometry. The rate of reaction was first order with respect to H+ and less than unit order with respect to L-leucine and inverse first order depends on (TriBACC). The effect of ionic strength was investigated. The main product was identified as the corresponding carbonyl compound. The rate constant as a function of temperature (303-323 K) were used to calculate activation parameters of the oxidation of L-Leucine by (TriBACC). A plausible mechanism was proposed to explain the results of kinetic studies.
