Abstract

CONTRIBUTIONS OF ARABS IN THE FIELD OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY

ABSTRACT

As for the history is concerned the surgery is started as early as human being came on the earth and started struggle to fulfill the requirement of life and at the same time to manage the disease and deformities happened in day to day life by natural medicine. The Natural medicine or Unani system of medicine is also known as Greco-Arab Medicine, because it is started first in Greece and reached Arab, and gradually spread in different countries of the world. Thus it can be said that the Unani medicine is developed in four time period each in a different geographical belt. 1. Greece period. 2. Arab- Persian period. 3. Spanish period. 4. Indian period. The present paper is an attempt to introduce the role of Arabs in medicine and surgery during Arab-Persian period.
