ABSTRACT
The present study was aimed to the effects of garlic and its different preparations against testicular toxicity induced by cisplatin (CIS ) in rats Sixty adult albino male rats Sprague –Dawley strain weighing (120 ± 5g.) were classified into six groups (10 rats each) the first group rats were fed on basal diet only control negative (-ve) group and five rat groups were injected (i.p) at the single dose with CIS (10mg / kg b.w) to induce testicular toxicity and reclassified into non-treated control positive (+ve) group fed on basal diet only, treated rat groups with oral dose(100mg/kg) of aged garlic extract (AGE)., dehydrated garlic powder (DGP), heated garlic juice (HGJ) and raw garlic (RG) for 30 days by stomach tube. Many side effects were observed in rats injected with cisplatin such as loosing of body weight, loss of activity,
weakness, yellowish body hair. But not observed with different garlic preparations groups The results revealed that, the control (+ve) group showed a significant decrease in food intake, testis weight, epididymus weight, sperm counts, sperm motility, reduce glutathione(GSH), glutathione transferase(GST), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), catalase(CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and significant increase in, creatinine, uric acid urea and malondialdehyde (MDA) compared with control (-ve) group at p
