ABSTRACT
Aims: To evaluate the Thrombolytic activity of ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of Tecomaria capensis leaves in laboratory using in vitro method. Methods: Thrombolytic activity study was observed by the method developed by Daginawala, using aqueous solution as control, streptokinase (SK) of 100 μg/mL as standard substance and test as ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts were determined. Results: In this study, the ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of Tecomaria capensis shown Thrombolytic activity in a dose dependant manner. Comparing both extracts, ethanolic extracts shown a better activity comparing to
standard. Whereas ethyl acetate extract shown moderate action. Ethyl acetate extract exhibited Thrombolytic activity of 47.5% and ethanol extract exhibited 50.86%. of lysis of clot, respectively. Conclusion: It is concluded that ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of Tecomaria capensis, showed significant thrombolytic activity.
Keywords: Tecomaria capensis, Streptokinase, Thrombolytic activity.
