Mohammed Imran Anees*, Mirza Shahed Baig and Priyanka Birhare

ABSTRACT

An isocratic reversed phase liquid Chromatographic method was developed for quantitative determination of Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime from its combined dosage form. Column having 250 x 4.6 mm, in isocratic mode with mobile phase containing orthophosphoric acid: Methanol (70:30 v/v) was used. Flow rate selected was 1ml/min and effluents are monitored at 278nm. Retention time of Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime were found to be 4.825 min and 3.317 min respectively. Correlation Coefficient for Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime was found to be 0.9998 and 0.9988 respectively. Proposed method was validated according to international conference for harmonization (ICH) guideline with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity and robustness. Recovery of Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime in formulation was found to be in range of 98-102% & 99-104% respectively. Analysis of commercial drug product confirms non-interference of excipients with respect to drug substance analysis. The result showed that proposed method can be used for routine analysis of Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime Proxetil in Combined dosage form.

Keywords: RP-HPLC, Levofloxacin and Cefpodoxime Proxetil.
