Abstract

ACCELERATED SOLVENT EXTRACTION OF PYRETHROID INSECTICIDE, FENVALERATE FROM BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS

ABSTRACT

Accelerated Solvent extractor provides more convenient, faster and less solvent intensive method for extraction of pesticides from biologically materials than previously used method such as Soxhlet, sonication and wrist-shaking extraction. It accelerates the traditional extraction process at elevated temperatures. Isolation of pyrethroid insecticide, Fenvalerate from biological material by Accelerated Solvent Extractor (ASE-200), the analytical conditions for extraction and its efficiency is described. Fenvalerate was extracted by ASE-200 at 70°C and 80°C in three cycles with ethyl acetate and acetonitrile solvent mixture and determined by Gas chromatography.
