ANATOMICAL AND HISTOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON CORDIA OBLIQUA

ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study was evaluate anatomical and histochemical studies of Cordia oblique. This plant commonly known as “Naruvili, Ali and Namaviri (Tamil), Lassura Viri, Cheruviri (Kerala).China-nakeru (Andhra)”. It is one of the most important medicinal plants. The anatomical and histochemical characteristics of the leaf, stem and root of Cordia obliqua have been studied. The analysis provided here by studying the cross sections of root, stem, leaf and leaf Constant Studies comprises the species. The results showed that there is concentration of vascular bundles at the central portion of root cortex, calcium oxalate presence in the root powder and non glandular trichome were present in the leaves.
